: :Quick humidification for large rooms
Review:For arid climates or the dry cold days of winter, running a steam humidifier indoors often protects the inhabitants' skin from chapping or itching, allows stressed lungs to breathe with comfort, and infuses moisture into the room to the benefit wooden furniture, upholstery, and houseplants to prevent them from becoming brittle or parched. Honeywell created their Quick Steam Warm Moisture Humidifier for all of these purposes and more, enhancing a room's humidity in record speed.
Best suited for rooms up to 1400 square feet in size, the humidifier's heater is crafted in stainless steel for quick heat production and trouble-free cleaning. The compact humidifier outputs 4 gallons of warm steam for each full tank of water. This humidifier offers users a timer function for running the unit for preset periods, ranging from an hour to the maximum 18-hour setting. Digital controls and the easy-to-read LCD screen enable users to alter or monitor current preference settings. A medicine cup allows users to run the humidifier as a vaporizer for stuffed noses, sore throats and other respiratory illnesses. An automatic shutdown feature reduces safety hazards. Humidifier water should be changed frequently and the tank washed well each week to prevent bacteria, mold, and other impurities from developing, though the heating process should kill many of these unhealthy particles. As with any electrical home device, read all manufacturer guidelines and instructions prior to use. This humidifier measures 15.55 by 14.57 by 10.24 inches and weighs 6 pounds upon shipping.

Pretty Much Perfect
It seems that no humidifier gets consistently positive reviews, so you really just have to take a chance on one that seems slightly less problematic than all the rest. That said, I've had zero problems with this so far, and it does exactly what it's supposed to do. I've been using it almost non-stop for about 4 months and it's still working like new.
I bought this for my infant daughter to help combat the dry air in our apartment. I really can't say enough in terms of how effective it was, and there was a noticable difference in my daughter's sinuses and eczema-plagued skin. I also really like that it cycles on and off to keep our desired humidity setting.
I live in NYC, so I may have a high tolerance for noise, but even given that, I rarely notice it even when set pretty high. I'd truly describe it as white noise rather than anything intrusive.
You do need to clean it often - this is just the nature of warm mist humidifiers. The mineral pad really helps (I forgot to use it for a week and noticed a big difference in the amount of build-up on the heating plate), but I only replace the pad every several weeks, so it lasts pretty long. I clean the unit and heating plate every week with vinegar, and use CLR every few weeks on the plate for a deep clean, but not every time.
Two cents on warm vs cool: I highly recommend warm mist humidifiers over cool mist. I tried the cute, and very popular, penguin cool-mist and it was absolutely useless even on the max setting. Parenting mags and the sort will preach the perils of warm mist humidifiers, but this is ONLY b/c they limit liability, i.e. there's no heat, so no chance that some idiot will let their kid play with it and get burned. If you focus on which one actually works, then there's literally no discussion.
One last comment - shop around - I love Amazon, but their price for this item was not at all competitive versus other retailers. I ultimately bought mine at HD for a much lower price.

480w power consumption on high setting
I'll comment on the power consumption of this unit since I wasn't able to find information about it before purchasing. It's not on the box, and not in the printed manual either. Guess they really make an effort to hide it. On the back of the unit, it say 4.4 amp.
On high setting (default when you turn it on), it consumes about 480 watts of power. On medium setting it consumes about 360 watts. On low setting, it consumes about 230 watts. 230 watts is not bad but 480 watts overnight or 24x7 is a lot.
It is slightly louder than I had hoped. But I guess anything that boils water can't be that quiet anyway. On low setting I can fall sleep at night, but I can imagine it may bother some people.
The unit is designed really well. I can pretty much take everything apart and wash and clean it. The pieces seem really modular and fit together nicely, and should last quite a while if well cared for.

Works fine - but clean up can be a chore
This humidifier works well with its indicators/sensors. However, it SURELY has to be cleaned EVERY two weeks at a minimum. Even with that that there is a lot of build up on the heating plate that has to be removed - with an additional CLR agent/vinegar and not simply wiped away. Also, keep in mind that the mineral pads will have to be replaced regularly though not frequently.

Can't beat the 3-yr warranty
I use my humidifier all the time in the winter. Although it needs to be cleaned regularly, the filters don't cost much and the machine works really well. I recently cracked the water tank while refilling it in the tub but when I called customer service, they said it was still under warranty and would ship me a new water tank free of charge within 7-10 business days.
